Workers of all varieties are forced to do year-end reviews, looking back on a year spent creating shareholder value and slowly going insane. Although employment is a necessary evil for many of us, we must focus on our achievements instead of our manager's shortcomings. They may have our promotions and raises in the palm of their hands, but at least we'll get more than a jelly subscription t the end of the year; we leave 2025 behind knowing that we survived another year of being a cornerstone in the office. Without the hardest workers on the force, CEO's would never have a second house in Barbados, and we would never feel guilty on holiday.
So reward yourself this year. Take all of your PTO, gossip with your coworkers, and splurge on lunch takeout every now and then. You have earned at least that! Besides, we're answering emails and phones all day; it's not like office workers are ER surgeons with someone's life in the palm of their hands. Taking it slow, focusing on customer service, and taking a backseat to the office's biggest problems can be liberating.
